    Tips for Recovering from Microdermabrasion

    NatalieBy NatalieSeptember 12, 2023No Comments3 Mins Read

Are you considering getting arkansas city microdermabrasion to restore the youthful appearance of your skin and get rid of blemishes, evidence of sun damage, acne scars, or huge pores? With the use of microcrystals, dull, lifeless, and damaged skin cells are scrubbed away during the exfoliating process known as microdermabrasion. The usage of microdermabrasion is a great way to refresh your look and get beautiful skin, but there are some simple actions you can do to maximize the treatment’s efficacy.

It is time to take a break. After a microdermabrasion treatment, your skin may feel irritated, similar to how it would after getting a sunburn. An ice pack or a spritz of cool water on your skin may help ease the discomfort until the sensation wears off in about a day or two.

    • Keep your skin hydrated.

Utilizing a moisturizer after a microdermabrasion treatment will assist in maintaining your skin’s comfort while also preventing it from becoming overly dry throughout the healing process. Choose a moisturizer that is formulated specifically for sensitive skin and does not contain any harsh substances or smells that could further irritate your skin.

    1. You do not need to exfoliate.

Because your skin will have been exfoliated during the microdermabrasion procedure, you do not need to exfoliate again after the procedure. While you are at it, you should also steer clear of products containing retinol, vitamin A, alpha and beta hydroxy acids, toners, astringents, and rubbing alcohol. While your skin is still healing from the microdermabrasion procedure, these components may cause additional irritation to your skin. You should probably stay away from wearing cosmetics for a few days as well, just in case.

    2. Tell the sun to take a hike.

You should take special precautions to prevent exposure to direct sunlight and tanning beds for the first two weeks following your microdermabrasion treatment. These precautions should be taken very seriously. If you really must go out in the sun, make sure to protect your skin by donning a hat and using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least 30 SPF. Be sure to reapply the cream on a consistent basis.

    • Avoid peeling.

You should resist the need to peel or rub off scabbing or flaking skin in order to avoid scarring and infection. Doing so may be tempting, but it is imperative that you refrain from doing so. Peeling can also bring oils to newly exposed skin, which can result in blemishes if done improperly.
